In 5 years, 77 major education, health, disability projects were implemented by Delhi government: Sisodia

The Delhi government has implemented 77 major infrastructure projects from the education, health and public works departments in the past five years, Manish Sisodia, deputy chief minister, Delhi, said on Wednesday.

As per the official statement, reviewing the project with senior officials of PWD and other relevant departments, Sisodia said that the city’s infrastructure, health and education have been the top priority of the Delhi government.

In addition, the project includes the construction of more than 20,000 classrooms, a new sports complex, dormitories for students, a hospital, six new and two-level flyovers, two new university campuses, installation of more than two lakh CCTV cameras, road repairs, installation of 500 flag and Signature Bridge in Wazirabad.

“After coming to power, it is the priority of the Delhi government to provide the best infrastructure, educational and healthcare facilities to its citizens. Delhi is the national capital and deserves the best urban infrastructure. This was ignored by the previous government but Arvind Kejriwal made this his priority,” said Sisodia.

Sisdodia further added, out of 77 projects, 26 of which valued at Rs 8,683.81 crore had been approved for the education sector in the last five years.

“The Delhi government is also building two new Ambedkar University campuses in Rohini and Dheerpur. For Training and Technical Education (TTE), the government has built many new academic blocks and dormitories at several technical colleges. Most of these projects have either been completed or are ongoing,” he said.

The deputy chief minister said the Delhi Government had approved 25 major infrastructure projects in the health sector in the last five years and the hospital bed capacity would be increased by 20,000.

“In the health sector, the Delhi Government approved 25 major projects at a cost of Rs 4,452.72 crore which included construction of various new hospitals and Intensive Care Units. The road infrastructure has been upgraded with 26 projects worth Rs 6,409.33 crores,” he said.

At PWD, the Government of Delhi has approved 26 major projects at a cost of Rs 6,409.33 crores which include a streetscaping project in the pilot phase, the construction of a two-level flyover between Bhajanpura-Yamuna vihar and Azadpur-Rani Jhansi Road.

This also includes the flyover at Shastri Park, the flyway of Asharam to DND, ANVT to Apsara Border, at the Intersection of Nagari and Gagan Cinemas and the elevated corridor at Loni Chowk.

“…In addition, there are various corridor development projects including Ashram Chowk underpass and many other underpasses across the city, various bridges, subways, installation of almost two lakh CCTV cameras, free Wi-Fi and installation of 500 tricolor across the city,” she says.
