Sally Willms was thrilled to have the opportunity to meet her future student last week.
Willms, Kindergarten teacher at Westpark School, welcomes children and parents from 10am – 12am on Thursday, February 16th, for an open house.
Kids get a taste of what Kindergarten at Westpark is like with crafts, math, music, physical education, snack time, and even books to take home to encourage them to read before they start next fall.
“It’s always great to be reminded of where they were when they started out in the beginning, and just anticipating all the things they’ll know a year from now is just so much fun. It’s been great to say hello and get to know and work with them.”
This is the educator’s second year teaching Kindergarten, and she says she finds it very rewarding.
“I laugh so hard every day because they are adorable and funny and see the world through little people’s eyes,” Willms continued. “It’s been great to see the amount of growth that’s happened in that first year of school, academically.”
Willms noted that he hopes parents see how warm and welcoming the school is and that their child will be well looked after.
“We have class sizes that are small enough that I feel like I really know each child really well throughout the year, and that helps me educate them as individuals and really build their lives.”
